Wrangler Heartland 2008 Press Release
Ada Pre-Entry Deadline February 29th - First Race of 2008

First Race of the Wrangler Heartland Tour 2008 will be held in Ada, OK
at Victory Farms the second week in March (14th-16th). Again Justin
Boots will be the event sponsor reminding everyone to get nominated
and started in the first race of The Tour to be eligible for the Justin
Average. All you have to do is qualify year end for the Justin Average
and you automatically will receive a 2008 winter coat. Justin Boots is
continuing awarding Justin Boots to the top 15 in the Justin Average
and Wrangler will be awarding a certificate for a pair of jeans a
T-shirt and cap. Justin Average Champion will still receive a pair of
Ostrich Boots, grace the front page of Barrel Racers Only and first
place awards along with the Top Five receiving year end awards. Also
the Top Five High Money Riders will receive year end awards.

Justin Boots will be providing a pair of boots at Ada for the average
winners of the Professional's Choice Open, T-shirts and plaques with
5 x 7 action photo from Fessler Photography. The Junior Class and
Senior and Adult Sidepots will also receive plaques and T-shirts for
the weekend average winners. To be eligible for average all classes
must enter all three days.

Not only are there changes with the top five year end awards for the
Justin Average and High Money, but also many other changes in 2008,
including three major mini series to grant end of the series awards
in the Open and the Juniors. Juniors will still be able to carry
their times over to the Open and will also be a 4D (1/2, 1/2, whole
splits).

Angie Clark, spokesman for The Tour explained, "Not only are we con-
tinuing with the Juniors fourth division, but we are adding an adult
2D Full Split sidepot class. There has been a junior and a senior
class for a couple of years now and that has helped several to win
money in the sidepot classes that did not win money in the Open, so
now there is a middle adult class that will give everyone an oppor-
tunity to enter a sidepot."

Angie continued, "We have had several phone calls of excited people
wanting to know what is in store with the mini series. I think that
this is going to be the answer to the high price of fuel for those
that can not commit to all year. There will be three (3) mini series
and there will be awards at the end of each for the Open and the Junior
Classes and an added $2,500 at the last race of each series that will
be awarded Saturday and Sunday to the highest nominated entries in
each division. There will also be five saddles at the end of each
series for the Open and nine buckles for the Open Reserve and Junior
Champions. Nominations for the Open will only be $20 ($50 for all year)
for each horse in each series and $10 ($25 for all year) for the Jrs.
The Juniors will not have to choose their awards and will be allowed to
win both since placings in the Open and the Juniors will not be the
same. The awards will be the top five (5) in the Open 4D's and three
(3) in the 5D and the Junior 4D's. The awards and added money will be
in Clarksville, AR at the Foothills Arena twice and they are sponsoring
the added money and then once at the last point counting race in Tulsa
where the Justin Average and High Money Awards will also be awarded"

"I personally am also very excited about the new format. I find that I
have a hard time keeping a horse sound all year, since it seems like
there is always something that happens. Maybe I can get through a series
of three or four and have a better chance at awards," replied Angie.

"Again Wrangler has come through with added awards. Wrangler Heartland
Tour Logo Wear will be available for the first time in 2008. Wrangler
will be giving a pair of jeans each race day to any Open or Junior entry
that wins a division wearing the logo wear. That's a possible total of
27 pairs of jeans each race weekend. That's phenomenal!"

In conclusion Angie stated, "There are two new rules strongly in favor
of the barrel racers. Number one we will take vet and doctor releases
til Tuesday Midnight as usual and then on any race day you will have
until two hours before the first horse runs in the junior class so that
we may possibly fill your position. If positions can not be filled
then the position will be a skip and not a scratch so that positions on
the ground will not change for those that are pre-entered. The vet
releases on race day must be done in person by entrant or someone else
and will be a refund of entry only and will not include late fees, pro-
cessing fees or stall fees (stall fees can be returned if done in
appropriate time on Friday). No faxes and no call ins for vet outs on
race day. They must also be on Dr.'s stationary and in Dr.'s writing.
No copies or duplicated signed releases and may not be done after Tues-
day Midnight until Friday at 9am in race office. The second new rule
is there will be a maximum of only two late entries for any rider in
one competition day. Friday will be a maximum of $10 per rider and
Saturday and Sunday will be a maximum of $30 each day per rider."
