The 2008 ABRA World
Finals Barrel Race, “WFBR”, is now only two months
away!! The $10,000 Added WFBR will be May 8-10th, 2008, at the
Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The ABRA will
be hosting the WFBR in the John Justin Arena with some very exciting
additions to the barrel racing atmosphere that is turning heads
all over the country and the world! In addition to morning church
services being held in the famous West Arena, the WFBR will have
its own ABRA Nursery and Cow Kid Corner, complete with a moon
bounce, where contestants can concentrate on their runs and their
horses knowing their children are being watched in a family-friendly,
safe environment. The WFBR will also have a Prayer & Hospitality
Room that will minister throughout the day to anyone needing prayer
and healing or just someone to talk to. That’s not all though,
there will also be a Training Room that will be playing a schedule
of horsemanship and barrel racing videos throughout the day from
some of the nation’s top trainers and World Champion barrel
racers like Janet Stover and Martha Josey! The WFBR will also
be recognizing the first recipients of the ABRA Smith Brothers
Scholarship Fund to be awarded to two ABRA youth members! All
of these come in addition to the ABRA tradition of Family Reunion
Nights that kick off at the conclusion of the Long Gos Friday
and Saturday night and feature dog races and horseless barrel
races (sometimes they even get combined) for a laugh-until-you-cry
night of family fun entertainment that is simply unforgettable!!
Also
new to the 2008 agenda, is the ABRA’s introduction of the
Rise Above Pro Tour! The 2008 ABRA Rise Above Pro Tour will kick
off May 9-10, 2008, in the Will Rogers Coliseum with $2,500 Added
and an 80% Payback of all Entry Fees (100% payback of Added Money
of course). The ABRA’s own Rise Above Pro Tour committee
will be overseeing this event as well as other Rise Above Pro
Tour events throughout the season, and with a team of advisors
featuring Mary Burger, Janet Stover, and Carolynn Vietor, this
is sure to be a professional event that contestants can be proud
of inside and out. Inspired by World Champion Bull Rider Scott
Mendes’ Conquering The Beast Pro Bull Riding Tour, the ABRA’s
Rise Above Pro Tour has also been created as a ministry tool that
provides professionals a chance to compete and get involved in
a Christian atmosphere that is comfortable, encouraging, uplifting,
and inspirational for the whole family. Backed by Western Harvest
Ministries, the CTB Tour will be concluding their season by joining
the ABRA’s Rise Above Pro Tour in the Will Rogers Coliseum
May 9-10, 2008. The CTB Tour will be producing nightly performances
complete with live entertainment, testimonies and stories from
top bull riders and barrel racers, and also some great bull riding
and barrel racing competition that is sure to genuinely satisfy
body and soul.
The
2008 ABRA WFBR is sure to be an event talked about long after
its over, but not just because of all the added money and prizes
and the thrill of competition. Perhaps never before has a divisional
barrel race offered morning Church services, a Nursery, Cow Kid
Corner, Training Room, Prayer & Hospitality Room, Family Reunion
Nights, a Western Trade Show, plus the nightly thrill and excitement
of professional bull riding and barrel racing competition…
all in one weekend. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend
