Tomorrow
April 15th is the pre-entry deadline for the $10,000 Added 2008
ABRA World Finals Barrel Race in Fort Worth and for the $2,500
Added Rise Above Pro Tour May 9-10th. Entries need to be postmarked
tomorrow in order to avoid late fees!! Entry forms, schedules,
maps and more are all online at www.AmericanBarrelRacing.org.
Late entries will be taken right up until the start of the classes.
The most frequently asked question we’ve received is “What
does the entry fee cover?” The entry fee on the World Finals
Entry Form covers two long gos and a short go – that’s
three runs for one entry fee! All the First Gos are on Friday,
Second Gos are on Saturday, and hopefully you make it back to
the Short Go on Sunday. The Rise Above Pro Tour will be one long
go. Also, for anyone who’s worried about the ground in the
John Justin or in the Coliseum, we can assure you that the ABRA’s
got all the resources we need, both in tractors and drags and
human resources to make the ground great in both arenas! We’ll
have our best drivers there to assure that the ground is safe
and fun to run on so don’t let that hold you back. If you’re
not a member or if you didn’t qualify, it’s not to
late to join and buy-in; we’ve make it very affordable because
we want anyone and everyone who wants to come to be able to come
and enjoy all that’s in store for us at the event in Fort
Worth. Speaking of events, if you’d like to get a head start
on getting some tickets for Scott Mendes’ Conquering The
Beast Pro Bull Riding Finals, just visit www.ConqueringTheBeast.com.
Vendors
and volunteers are still welcome for the World Finals. Vendors
can contact Melody Volz at Mel_Volz@yahoo.com. Volunteers can
contact us in the Home Office about setting barrels, opening gates,
or helping with the Nursery, Cow Kid Corner, or the Prayer &
Hospitality Room. We’d like to thank everyone who’s
already offered to help out. And we could still use a couple of
buckle sponsors at $200-$250. A special thank you goes out to
our National Sponsors… Cactus Saddlery will be making the
Trophy Saddles for the five Open Division Winners at the WFBR.
Smith Brothers and Walls have donated lots of awards for the Senior
and Youth classes, plus every 9-12, 8 & Under, and Assisted
contestant will receive buckets full of goodies. Arena Werks will
be the one to thank for great ground that stays consistent all
day. And we’ll be giving out 21 Hy O Silver trophy belt
buckles the weekend of May 8-11th in Fort Worth.
April
15th is also the deadline for the ABRA Smith Brothers Scholarship
Applications to be postmarked, so high school seniors you don’t
want to miss this deadline! $750 is going to be awarded to high
school seniors pursuing higher education!
Some
great events are coming up this weekend for ABRA members. Thursday
